Dubbed an “electric harpsichord”, the Rocksichord is certainly an interesting sounding instrument. It is somewhere between an rock organ and a dirty clavinet and Souniccouture has released the sounds of this rare instrument in the Kontact format for free. Demo 4 on their page really caught my ear. Check it out, brah.

If you are an Ableton Live user (which I am currently work on becoming), check out PureMagnetik’s site for some new sounds and instruments. PureMagnetik makes Live Packs which are available by paid subscription, but they also offer some freebies which offer some nice drum and synth sounds. Also, in the “Artist Kits” section of their site is even more free stuff.
Max for Live was recently just released which is a modular programming environment to create your own synths and effects. Luckily there are hundreds of presets already out there for you to use right away. PureMagnetic is working on some new ones and are offering “Spectral Mixer” for free.
Goldbaby just released a new product called FatJuno 6…a phat sampled Roland Juno 6 through an Empirical Labs Fatso. But for us freebie’ers, they’ve also put out two free sample packs! There is one that is drums and fx sounds from the Juno 6 and the other is the Eventide H3500 sampler played as a multi-instrument. Very cool stuff.
Check out Hugo’s new blog post and download the sample packs.
And as always, Goldbaby has way more free stuff here. They are one of my favorite sample pack producers so check them out.
Here’s a free sampled Yamaha Rick Marotta Signature Hipgig drum kit available for Kontact, EXS and several other drum mappings.
There’s a quick audio demo here but hop over to Acousticsamples’ site and give it a shot. More mappings are being uploaded by users so chances are this will work for your favorite sample format.
Here are some more Roland Tr-808 samples. Honestly, I have some many free drum samples sent to me that I don’t even know if I should post them all. What do you guys think? Is it overload or do you want more?
Anyway, the quality of this 808 set is good. Check them out.
One of the epic benefits of buying software that is widely used is the fact that there will be a rabid user base willing to give back to the community and provide others with presets and sounds. If you’re using Propellerheads’ Reason you might want to check out -008′s hip hop friendly refills.
Click here to go to his blog and just sign up to his email list to get the free download links.
Bonus: check out a youtube vid of -008′s Michael Jackson tribute refill after the jump. continue reading »

You’d better have this site bookmarked just in case you are ever in need of some free drum machine samples. They’ve sampled over 200 drum machines; from the most common sounds that we would recognize anywhere (808′s, 909′s, etc) to super rare drum boxes that only few have had the privilege of owning. If you’re looking for inspiration or new sounds for your productions, you will mostly likely find SOMETHING here.

Alright. This refill is srs bsns. It’s one entire Ocean Way drum kit (Kit 10 Medium) mapped out a few different ways in the Reason Refill format. The refill weighs in at 275 mb(!!!) for just one kit and the playability of the layered samples is really impressive. I’m going to post a video of some of my impressions of the kit on thursday and some little samples.
