PureMagnetik Ableton Live Packs 0

If you are an Ableton Live user (which I am currently work on becoming), check out PureMagnetik’s site for some new sounds and instruments. PureMagnetik makes Live Packs which are available by paid subscription, but they also offer some freebies which offer some nice drum and synth sounds. Also, in the “Artist Kits” section of their site is even more free stuff.

Max for Live was recently just released which is a modular programming environment to create your own synths and effects. Luckily there are hundreds of presets already out there for you to use right away. PureMagnetic is working on some new ones and are offering “Spectral Mixer” for free.

Tal Elek7ro 2.5 0

Yes, this great freebie has been out for a few months but I only got a chance to really put it through its paces this weekend. I had two remixes to do and I decided early on that I would use Tal Elek7ro as the basis of these tracks. One was a hardcore dubstep son driven by the infamous wobble bass sound and the other was a disco house track.

The filter is great on Elek7ro and apparently the envelope has been improved over the previous version to allow for easier creation of percussive sounds. I’ll probably do some video tutorials on sound creation using this simple but powerful synth but in the meantime download it and get playing.

Weekend Links – Piano Edition 0

Every weekend we’ll do a themed post bringing you links to a couple of goodies. These week we’ve got a couple of virtual instruments that have some nice character and are a worthy addition to anyone’s arsenal of gear. Oh yeah…and they’re free!

- GSI MrTramp2 – A really warm sounding Wurlitzer 200a electric piano emulation. It’s a classic instruments that has been used by everyone from the Carpenters to Daft Punk to Marvin Gaye to Beck. For PC VST or Mac VST or AU.

- 4Front Piano Module – This is a hybrid of a sampled upright piano and some emulation technology. It’s very easy on the CPU and sounds pretty good. For PC VST or MAC VST or AU

Have a great weekend and as always if you use these in any tracks feel free to leave a link in the comments!

KVR Developer’s Challenge ’09 0

For our first post here on Audio Freebie, we’ll link to the treasure trove of free plugins that were entered in this year’s KVR Developer’s Challenge. Anually, KVR allows developers to submit new free plugins that they’ve programmed for a chance to win a big prize (and get some cool publicity, too). Of course, the big winners in all of this are us! We get a ton of free audio toys to play with.
