Getting your fans to spread your music to their friends on social networks is probably one of the best ways to grow your fan-base. People are more likely to click on link (or download) from their friend than from a band or marketer, so having a fan recommend your music to their friends will help you reach people you would have never reached before. continue reading »
When ArtistData launched their new interface a few months ago, we were most excited a out their “Alert Local Media” feature. This sent your tour dates to all of the local newspapers and publications so they can list your upcoming shows in the US and Canada. Recently, they added 150+ more publications to spread the word about your shows.
This feature costs $4.99 a month but they have a free 15 day trial to try it out. Honestly, with all the work that goes into touring, a service like this seems like a god-send. Log in to your Artistdata account and head over to here in their Applications Store to check it out.

It is a social blogging community where everyone freely reblogs and passes on links, pictures, music, etc. and I highly recommend you throw one together for your music. Oh, did I mention there is almost zero setup and it’s super easy to post? Yeah…you should be on there.
And today, Tumblr added the ability to add static pages to your blog. Meaning, you can finally put up that “About” page or “Music” page and start building your Tumblr into a more full-fledged site. Click here to read about the new feature and start sharing with their millions of users.

If you’re using WordPress for your band’s webpage or blog, the Gigs Calendar plugin will save you a ton of time setting up a page for your live shows and tours. There’s an easy to use interface in your WordPress Dashboard that allows you to add detailed venue details and then put together your list of shows and also automatically integrates links to google maps.
Click here to download from the WordPress Plugin Directory. (here’s an example of an artist using this on their site)
