KVR Developer’s Challenge ’09 0

For our first post here on Audio Freebie, we’ll link to the treasure trove of free plugins that were entered in this year’s KVR Developer’s Challenge. Anually, KVR allows developers to submit new free plugins that they’ve programmed for a chance to win a big prize (and get some cool publicity, too). Of course, the big winners in all of this are us! We get a ton of free audio toys to play with.

This year’s big winner is FerricTDS by Bootsie; a tape dynamics simulator plugin for the Windows VST format. Everyone that uses Bootsie plugins is always raving about how well they compare with plugins that cost hundreds of dollars, and this one is no exception. If you’re looking for a plugin to give you some of the grit and warmth of analog tape you are going to be hard pressed to find many suitable contenders to the free FerricTDS for less than $100.

There are also several good reverbs, synthesizers, equalizers, etc. available for download; most of them in the PC VST format (unfortunately for me! I mostly use AudioUnits on a Mac.).  Head on over to the contest page and start picking up some of the 40+ great freebies!
